• Get Original Genealogy and Family History Records with familysearch New Record Search Pilot site
You've got to try this. You may have been to the familysearch site before, but what they are working on is truly wonderful. I'm talking about access to copies of free original genealogy records - and you've got to see their new search interface. Very, very nice. Try your own genealogy and family tree searches just like the example in this video shows, and be sure to save the copies of the original records that you find. This is happening in part (a large part) because of "thousands of volunteers around the world who are helping to make more free records available online through familysearch Indexing." You will see links asking for volunteer "Indexers" on the Pilot site. I imagine many of Treasure Maps readers are involved with this already. The familysearch, Record Search - Pilot Site, is only going to get better and better. And bless all of you volunteers. Good luck ;-) Robert

• Family Tree - Tv on the Radio
This song reminds me of the end of the book "The Outliers: a history of success" by Malcom Gladwell. "... How many more would live a life of fullfillment in a beautiful house high on a hill" I find it hauntingly beautiful. And you get it better with having a personal/family history of pain, trauma. How the stories repeat themselves generation after generation, because of parenting style, is product of what the parent experienced as a child neglect, violence or abuse. and part of the healing process might be going away from the family, or going beyond blaming the parents and understanding that on a level it was not their fault. This song for me is about, healing facing and overcoming, escaping the circle of pain. Like the cycle stops with us, we will not pass this to our children, and won't nurture the seeds of evil. Also you might get out of it, but it doesn't fully get out of you. and at some point one goes back and faces it Notice the first lines of the song The construction of the song is amazing. raven hair mama, then silver hair mama pumping blood to keep it you, pumping blood to keep us young. And then it goes "in the shadow of the valley of your family tree" I think its a reference to Psalm 23, when it says "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" Here are the lyrics The Family Tree Artist: Tv on the Radio Album: Dear Science Under my love Wake up to your window ...

• History of the Bush Family
The documents, many of which were declassified only three years ago, show that even after America had entered the war and when there was already significant information about the Nazis' plans and policies, Prescott Bush worked for and profited from companies closely involved with the very German businesses that hoisted Hitler to power. While there is no suggestion that Prescott Bush was sympathetic to the Nazi cause (nor is there any proof to the contrary), the documents reveal that the firm he worked for, Brown Brothers Harriman acted as a US base for Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist who financed Hitler in the 1930s. Evidence shows Bush was the director of the New York-based Union Banking Corp. that represented Thyssen's US interests and he continued to work for the bank well after America entered the war. Bush was also on the board of at least 1 of the companies that formed part of a multinational network of front companies to allow Thyssen to move assets around the world. Papers also show, Prescott Bush was a director and shareholder of a number of companies involved with Thyssen, Germany's most powerful industrial family, and with IG Farben, which was prosecuted for war crimes, and is best known as the producer of Zyklon B, a lethal poison widely used at the Auschwitz and Majdanek death camps.

• The Human Family Tree 2 of 9
Please visit my blog for ideas & suggestions with me: ihateallreligion.blogspot.com On a single day on a single street, with the DNA of just a couple of hundred random people, National Geographic Channel sets out to trace the ancestral footsteps of all humanity. Narrated by Kevin Bacon, The Human Family Tree travels to one of the most diverse corners of the world -- Queens, NY -- to demonstrate how we all share common ancestors who embarked on very different journeys. Regardless of race, nationality or religion, all of us can trace our ancient origin back to the cradle of humanity, East Africa. What did our collective journey look like, and where did it take your specific ancestors? At what point in our past did we first cross paths with the supposed strangers living in our neighborhood? Now, in The Human Family Tree, the people of this quintessential American melting pot find out that their connections go much deeper than a common ZIP code.
